Presence, Connection and Soft Communication. It all begins with us.

About Me

Hey, I’m Saara and I’m on a lifelong quest to truly understand our equine friends and learn to connect with them more deeply.

My journey began in Finland, where I grew up with a deep love for horses that has never left me. Fifteen years ago I left Finland to pursue my dream of becoming a horse trainer, and since then I’ve explored many facets of the equestrian world, from dressage to groundwork and liberty training. Every horse I’ve met along the way has taught me something invaluable. They continue to be my greatest source of inspiration.

What keeps coming back to me is how profoundly we can connect with and affect our horses simply by being present, grounded, and authentically ourselves. Over time, this insight has shaped my own unique approach, one that puts the well-being of the horse at the heart of everything.

My mission is to help horses feel at ease in their bodies and secure in their connection with people, creating a deep and lasting bond between horse and human. To get there, I work with both horses and their people on regulating emotions and the nervous system. Because it all starts with us.

When we understand that the horse is a mirror, reflecting our energy, our emotions, our presence, our breath, something shifts. We begin a subtle, almost invisible conversation with our equine friends. One you might not see with your eyes, but you will deeply feel.

Alongside my work with horses, I’ve been teaching yoga for five years. Body awareness, breath, and trusting the body have always fascinated me, and I now weave these tools into my training as a way to find presence, relaxation, and a deeper connection with our horses.

I’m based in the south of Limburg, the Netherlands, and work across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. International clinics are also available.

What I offer

My passion lies in helping you and your horse rediscover peaceful, empowering communication, the kind that feels natural and soft.

I offer personalised training sessions, help prepare young horses, and support you in feeling truly confident in your connection with your horse.

My work is rooted in liberty and groundwork, which translates beautifully into riding. I prefer to work bitless, as it encourages a softer, more honest conversation between horse and rider, one built on trust rather than control.

I work with all kinds of horses, but I have a special place in my heart for those with difficulties or so-called “behavioural problems.” These horses often simply need to feel safe enough to communicate. When that safety is there, misalignment softens and something wonderful opens up.

I believe every horse is unique, and I tailor my approach to suit each one. I’m always thinking outside the box, staying present, and feeling into what this particular horse or human needs in this moment.

I also bring something a little different to the arena. As a certified yoga teacher, I weave breathing and body awareness practices into my sessions, helping you arrive more fully in your body, so that ease and relaxation can flow naturally through to your horse. Because when you feel calm, they feel it too.

People who work with me leave feeling confident, relaxed, and joyful, and their horses do too. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of your own body, energy, and the subtle ways they affect your horse. You’ll build trust in yourself, and in each other. And most importantly, you’ll learn to have fun in your training.

I’ll be honest, I do tend to get a little silly. Playful tricks, headstands while my horse circles around me, standing on their back, the occasional dinosaur costume. These moments bring pure joy to our sessions, create beautiful bonding time, and teach the horse to stay curious and calm when something unexpected happens. Oh, and you’ll have a great laugh too.

About my philosophy

My philosophy is simple: presence, gentleness, patience, and joy.

I believe every horse should feel relaxed and safe before we ask anything new of them. From that place of ease, real progress becomes possible. And at the heart of that ease is a regulated nervous system, for the horse and for you. When we help the horse settle into the moment, a soft and subtle conversation becomes possible. One built on real trust and safety.

For me, training has never been just about riding skills. It’s about creating an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect, because horses are deeply sensitive beings. When they sense harmony and positivity, they thrive. And when they thrive, so do we.

I believe there are no difficult horses, only misunderstood ones. Horses communicate with us constantly, in a language we have to learn to listen to. What we often label as “bad behaviour” is almost always an expression of confusion or distress. I communicate through feeling, intention, energy, and body language, always respecting the horse’s boundaries. And it’s precisely that respect that allows them to open up.

In my work, there is no place for punishment. Only curiosity, understanding, and a genuine desire to find a solution together. No frustration, no rigid expectations. Horse and human arrive exactly as they are, and from that honest starting point, we build something beautiful. We trade control for collaboration. We choose connection over correction.

Every challenge is simply an invitation to grow, for the horse and for you.

Someone once told me I am a “messenger of joy”, and I’ve held onto that ever since. Joy is not just a feeling, it’s an energy. It brings playful curiosity to you and your horse, softens you from the inside, and opens the door to real presence. What if you could enter every session feeling joyful and confident, genuinely wondering, what are we getting up to today? Joy is healing. And it might just be the most powerful training tool there is.

Horses are mirrors of our souls. The more I understand this, the better I can serve them. They teach me every single day. About behaviour, about presence, and about what it means to show up as my most authentic self. That lesson, more than any other, is what I bring into every session.

If you’re looking for a trainer who leads with compassion, communicates with curiosity, and believes deeply in the partnership between horse and human, I’m here. Let’s build something beautiful together.
